Build Reads.

Tasmania’s construction and infrastructure sector helping build a culture of reading.

A partnership that builds more than projects

Help stories take shape.

Build Reads invites construction, civil, engineering, utilities, mining services and infrastructure businesses to support reading and creativity in Northern Tasmania.

Through OtherBound Literary Futures 2027, that support can strengthen access to professional writers and artists, practical workshops, independent author events and conversations that bring people together.

Ideas become pages. Pages become possibilities.
Where support goes

Real activity. Local benefit.

Partnership contributions can help us deliver the three connected strands of Literary Futures 2027.

01

Ink North

Comics and manga workshops connecting professional writers and visual artists with participants and emerging creators.

02

OtherBound Indie Festival

Independent speculative fiction, publishing pathways and new connections between writers, booksellers and readers.

03

Between Worlds

Professionally hosted author conversations that bring established writers and their creative practice to Launceston audiences.

Accountability

Support people can see and feel.

Build Reads can contribute to fair fees for writers, artists and facilitators, workshop materials, travel, accessible public events and audience development.

We plan to report on attendance, paid creative participation, feedback and reach.

Participant privacy, child safety, accessibility, artistic independence and host venue requirements guide every arrangement.
